Lesson Plan

Day 1: to Oedipus Rex

Instruct them to create a character profile that includes information about the character's motivations, relationships, and significance to the plot. * Plot Outline (15 minutes): Have students work together to create a detailed plot outline of the play. Encourage them to identify key events, turning points, and the rising and falling actions.

Day 2: Exploring Fate and Free Will

* Fate versus Choice Discussion (15 minutes): Facilitate a class discussion on the role of fate and free will in the play. Analyze how Oedipus' actions both fulfill and defy the prophecy made at his birth. * Prophecies and Predictions Activity (10 minutes): Provide students with a list of prophecies and predictions made throughout the play.
