About the Author

Captain Richard "Dick" Best (Ret.) was a career naval aviator who flew more than 4,000 hours in more than 50 different types of aircraft. He served in both the Atlantic and Pacific Fleets and commanded two aircraft carriers. He is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and the United States Naval War College.

Captain Best is the author of several books on naval aviation, including Fly Navy: The View From The Cockpit 1945-2000 and Carrier Strike: The Battle for the Philippine Sea.
