Naipi, a beautiful young woman from the Guarani tribe, was deeply in love with Tarobá, a brave and handsome warrior. Their love, however, was forbidden by the tribal chief, who had promised Naipi to another man. Determined to be together, the lovers decided to flee into the forest.

As they ran, the chief and his warriors pursued them relentlessly. Desperate, Naipi and Tarobá prayed to M'Boy, the god of thunder and lightning, for help. M'Boy, moved by their love, transformed them into two waterfalls, cascading down into the canyon below.

The waters of the falls became a symbol of their eternal love, and the mist that rises from them is said to be the breath of Naipi and Tarobá. To this day, the legend of Naipi and Tarobá continues to be celebrated in the local culture, and the Iguassu Falls remain a place of pilgrimage for lovers from all over the world.
